ILLUSION PERFECTION
By Ekelem Ben-Iweagwu
One of a girl's major obsessions (besides
shoes, weepy rom-coms and for some, Men, hehe!) would be finding the perfect
dress for your body type! Each woman is blessed with a distinct body type which
could be either Straight, Pear, Spoon, Hourglass, Top hourglass, Inverted
triangle, Oval or Diamond. How ultimately gratifying it is then when there is a
dress for ALL body types?
Women are known to work wonders with our
hair and make-up, but today I show you how to do precisely that with your body
without breaking a sweat at the gym. The optical illusion dress is that special
dress which fulfills this very fantasy. Often two/three-toned the contrast of
colors and the paneling plays with your mind and is wholly flattering. Like the
name implies, it creates an illusion of a curvier and even more slender figure,
while elongating the arms (in the case of the sleeveless dresses) and
complimenting the legs.
Where the darker tone covers the bust, it
flatters women who are heavy on top because it draws attention away from the
bust and focuses it on the area with the lighter tone. This is specific to the
straight, top hourglass and inverted body types.
Women with waists that are considerably
slimmer than the bust and hips will more easily patronize the illusion dresses
because the slimming nature of the dress further cinches the waist in giving a
more svelte and elegant appearance.
For the fuller figured women who have the
oval or diamond body type, you can never go wrong with this dress type because
unlike any normal form-fitting dress that exposes folds and other unflattering
features, the illusion dress does well to conceal and smoothen out these
imperfections, making it possible for you to snack out on endless bars of
chocolate and look fabulous at the same time (winks!)
The fact that Straight figured women do
not enjoy this advantage does not mean
that they equally can't give curvier women a run for their money! The illusion dress
softly spreads over the bust and boyish hips creating a rounder and more
feminine figure.
The black panelling coupled with the nude
and cream absolutely emphasized the Actress' toned figure. Pairing it with a
pair of black peep-toe heels and minimal jewelry, she looked every inch the
star that she is.
With the frequency of weddings and other red carpet events here in Abuja, the midi/maxi style illusion dresses are a sure bet as the outcome leaves you looking effortlessly chic and elegant. Paired with either open-toed heels, ravishing pointy heels or feminine strappy sandals and the appropriate jewelry, you can achieve a dressed up/dressed down look, guaranteed to produce stunning results. And for the working-class women, rocking a demure blazer with the dress can be sure to close your deal on that contract you have your sights on!
So
Ladies, with a little confidence you are guaranteed to turn heads anywhere in
an optical illusion dress regardless of your body type. People will not hesitate
to take a second look, make no mistakes about that!
